Product Detail

Notice how tightly packed our kiln-dried log crates are! They offer fantastic value for money, especially because the logs burn so efficiently. Comparing log volumes can be tricky so we tell you how big our crates are, what you get as 'stacked' and 'loose' volume, and what their equivalent is in traditional dumpy/builders bags.

Take advantage of these low prices while stocks last, you won't be disappointed!

And we have free shipping to most of the UK

About Birch

Summary: Great all-rounder, great for modern stoves.

Birch, a popular choice for its great ‘all-rounder properties is a hardwood species of medium density. It offers a relatively quick heat output and a nice vibrant flame for a great-looking fire in the heart of your home.

Good heat output and decent burn time mean that birch is suitable for any stove user that might have it lit for 2 - 4 hours at a time. Remember that the residual heat from your stove will keep an average room warm well after the best of the fire has passed which means that Birch and similarly Alder can be an ideal choice for the average evening user when long burn time isn’t the priority. With Birch you’ll get a manageable fire that heats quickly.

Crucially, our Birch firewood is specially kiln dried to make sure that the moisture is removed to below 20% giving you maximum value from every log and ensuring a clean, efficient fire with low emissions.

    Stacked Volume vs Loose Volume:

Logs are often sold loose in bags or in loads off the back of a tipper vehicle and you pay for the rough volume delivered. Our crates of stacked logs minimise the 'free' space between logs by a huge factor which means that our crates are even better value than you might think at first glance. The equivalent loose volume of logs is listed alongside the stacked volume for comparison purposes. We use the industry standard equation as well as real life experience to calculate the equivalent loose volume of logs.

    Our commitment

Delivering our quality kiln dried logs to you without hassle is really important to us. We use a professional delivery service and the logs are carefully packed in custom crates to ensure it all reaches you in top condition.

In most cases we can drop the logs at a place of your choosing with or without you being there. With that said it's important to understand that there are some limitations to the service due to the sheer weight and size of the products.

    How it works

When you place your order online before 2 pm during the week we'll get it moving the same day. We'll prep the order and send it out using one of the nationwide pallet delivery networks. A lorry up to 18 ton in size will arrive with your logs on the designated day between 9 am and 6 pm. It will be unloaded using a tail lift and pallet pump truck.

Yorlogs can only guarantee kerbside delivery on the service as it's impossible to know everyone's individual property situation but in most cases, the driver will be willing to drop the crate in your preferred spot. As you can imagine, these loaded crates of logs are very heavy, so while getting them as close as possible to your wood store is our aim, it is ultimately dependent on the driver's judgement at the time based on several factors such as; the distance, the ground being flat and the quality of the road surface. Pallet trucks don't do gravel!

    Delivery time

Standard delivery to most mainland UK Postcodes is 2-3 working days and is free of charge.

If the cold is biting (as we say, you're 'nithered') and you need your logs in a hurry, just place your order online before 2 pm selecting our express delivery option and Yorlogs will deliver it the next working day to most UK postcodes (see exclusions).

    Limitations/Requirements

We'd love to get Yorlogs to every home but we can only deliver if the terrain and space is suitable.

Space required for vehicle: 3mtrs (10ft) width and 5mtrs (17ft) height. Please consider branches from trees and narrow lanes etc

If the vehicle can't access your driveway and there isn't an adequately dropped kerb (there is an excessive lip) from your driveway to the road the driver may have to leave the crate kerbside. (Typical dropped kerbs are usually fine).

The vehicle must be able to unload on level ground without a slope, this is due to health and safety reasons because of the weight of the crate.

The route for the pallet truck must be free of obstacles and the ground firm and solid.

If your order has to be returned because there is unsuitable access or terrain as outlined here and you refuse to accept delivery at the nearest safe point of placement (e.g. kerbside) then unfortunately you will be responsible for the original cost of shipping and the cost of returning your order, which is something everyone is obviously keen to avoid.
