Notice how tightly packed our kiln-dried log crates are! They offer fantastic value for money, especially because the logs burn so efficiently. Comparing log volumes can be tricky so we tell you how big our crates are, what you get as 'stacked' and 'loose' volume, and what their equivalent is in traditional dumpy/builders bags.

About Birch
Summary: Great all-rounder, great for modern stoves.
Birch, a popular choice for its great ‘all-rounder’ properties is a hardwood species of medium density. It offers a relatively quick heat output and a nice vibrant flame for a great-looking fire in the heart of your home.
Good heat output and decent burn time mean that birch is suitable for any stove user that might have it lit for 2 - 4 hours at a time. Remember that the residual heat from your stove will keep an average room warm well after the best of the fire has passed which means that Birch and similarly Alder can be an ideal choice for the average evening user when long burn time isn’t the priority. With Birch you’ll get a manageable fire that heats quickly.
Crucially, our Birch firewood is specially kiln dried to make sure that the moisture is removed to below 20% giving you maximum value from every log and ensuring a clean, efficient fire with low emissions.
Stacked Volume vs Loose Volume:
Logs are often sold loose in bags or in loads off the back of a tipper vehicle and you pay for the rough volume delivered. Our crates of stacked logs minimise the 'free' space between logs by a huge factor which means that our crates are even better value than you might think at first glance. The equivalent loose volume of logs is listed alongside the stacked volume for comparison purposes. We use the industry standard equation as well as real life experience to calculate the equivalent loose volume of logs.
